5th Annual Miss Carnegie Continuing Education Scholarship Pageant is scheduled for January 18

Reigning Miss Carnegie, Alexa Chavez, and the Miss Carnegie Pageant Board would like to invite the Carnegie community to the 5th Annual Miss Carnegie Continuing Education Scholarship Pageant on January 18, at 6 p.m. in the evening.
The current Miss Carnegie titleholder, Alexa Chavez, is currently a senior at Carnegie High School with plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in Nursing, specializing in Pediatrics. She is involved in National Honor Society, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), Cross Country, Track, and Cheerleading, She holds a 4.0 GPA, is the senior class president, CHS StuCo secretary, a TSA state officer for the third year in a row, is the Carnegie FFA Chapter historian, and is an Oklahoma Blood Institute Social Media Ambassador. She is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Alexa is the daughter of Manuel and Teresa Chavez and sister to Kenia and Axel.
During her reign, Alexa volunteered her time to read to students in elementary classrooms, coached for the All-Star Special Olympics games, hid Easter eggs for the Carnegie Chamber Easter Egg Hunt, read at the Carnegie Library Summer Program, rode in the Carnegie Rodeo parade, worked at the Carnegie Chamber of Commerce Fair booths, participated in the Special Olympics Buddy Walk, performed at the Carnegie Chamber of Commerce Banquet, assisted with Carnegie Car Show entries, performed at the Carnegie Alumni ceremony, passed out candy sacks to children at the Carnegie Chamber of Commerce Santa visit, and rode in the Carnegie Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade.
Last year, Alexa placed first in interview, athleticism, self-expression, talent, evening wear, as well as the Higher-Ed Award and Miss Congeniality, which earned continuing education scholarships in the total amount of $1,800.00.
On Sunday, nine bold contestants are striving to earn a portion of over $4,500 in higher-education scholarships and, ultimately, the 2026 Miss Carnegie title. The contestants are: Jada Riley, Mylah Ricker, Greer Lucus, Zannady Kalahan, Peggy Maynahonah, Paxton Davis, Jaycee Kalahan, Rebekah Collins, and Kearrah Steckman. During intermission, the audience can vote for their favorite contestant. The contestant who has the most monetary votes will be awarded the Crowd-Pleaser Award and scholarship.
The Miss Carnegie Pageant will be held at the Carnegie Memorial Building Auditorium on January 18, at 6 p.m. Admission for the event is $5 per person. Miss Carnegie 2025, Alexa Chavez, the nine contestants, and KOCO 5 Jordyn Ryan will be available for photographs after the crowning of Miss Carnegie 2026.
