MV-G advances to semifinals with 70-19 win

The Mountain View-Gotebo Tigers moved a step closer to their dream of a state title on Friday by grinding out an impressive 70-19 win over Wesleyan Christian in the quarterfinal round of the state 8-man football playoffs.

With the win, Mountain View-Gotebo improved to 12-0 for the season and, more importantly, punched its ticket to the semifinal round of the Class C playoffs. The Tigers are scheduled to face off against the Waynoka Railroaders on Nov. 26.

The winner of the Mountain View-Gotebo and Waynoka showdown will play either Tyrone or Timberlake in the Class C state championship.

Waynoka heads into Friday's showdown at 10-2 overall. The Railroaders moved into the semifinals with a 44-6 win over Maud last week.

Waynoka's only losses this season came in a 34-24 setback to Ringwood on Sept. 17. Their only other loss came in a 30-6 decision on Nov. 5 against Tyrone.

The Railroaders comes into the contest with a potent offense that has rolled up 500 points this season. Mountain View-Gotebo has scored 717 points in its 12 games.

Defensively, MV-G has allowed just 87 points this season.
