Chamber seeks nominations for 'Citizen of Year,' Jolly awards

January 05, 2022

The search for the Carnegie Citizen of the Year award is officially on for the Carnegie Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber officials announced on Dec. 22 that they were taking nominations for the 2022 Citizen of the Year award. The award will be presented at the annual Carnegie Chamber of Commerce Banquet, which is scheduled for March.

"We are excited to once again begin planning for an in-person Chamber banquet," said Chamber President Randy Turney. "This year’s banquet is scheduled for on Thursday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building at Carnegie Elementary School.

The highlight of the chamber's annual banquet will be the announcing of this year’s Carnegie Citizen of the Year and BW Jolly Honoree.

Turney said Chamber officials were reaching out to community residents for their input on the awards.

"We need your help to make the selections for this year's honors," he said. "Any living person/group/organization can be nominated."

While the Citizen of the Year Award is focused on contributions and service during the 2021 calendar year, the BW Jolly Award pays tribute to an individual/group/organization that has made a significant contribution to our community over the span of 10 years.

Turney said individuals wishing to nominate a person for consideration for either of the prestigious awards can do so by submitting a letter that includes the nominee's name, selected award, and a written description detailing their contributions to the community.

Nominations can be delivered to Chamber President Randy Turney at Carnegie Middle School or Chamber Treasurer Kelly Williams at the Bank of Commerce. Nominations can also be sent via email to carnegiechamber@gmail.com.

Nominations will be accepted through Friday, February 4.
