Nazarene Church donates to CPS school supplies effort

Carnegie Church of the Nazarene Pastor George Miller knew the members of his congregation wanted to help with the area students' efforts to get ready for the start of school. Last Wednesday, he found the perfect way.

Miller, along with his wife, Jeanne, presented the principals of Carnegie's three campuses with checks totaling $900 to help provide school supplies to those needing assistance. Each campus received $300 from the church.

"This is something we wanted to do," said Miller. "By doing this (donating directly to the school), we feel like we can do it fairly, and make sure everyone gets something."

Accepting the three checks on behalf of their respective campuses were Carnegie Elementary School principal Lori Walters, Carnegie Middle School Principal Randy Turney, Carnegie High School Abe Lopez and Carnegie Public Schools' Superintendent Eric Smith.
